Introductions

So, I've never been a big nail salon person... probably because my only experiences with getting my nails done have been like the one above! Though absolutely hilarious, it's funny because it's so TRUE!!! What began as a reason to get together with my girlfriends and have some girls' time out while getting an inexpensive mani turned into an overpriced guilt trip between me and the "beautician" - in which I ended up walking out completely confused as to how on earth I now had $60 less in my bank account, 3 inches extended to my hands and feet, and some gaudy color reminiscent of Jem and the Holograms on my nails.  Maybe some of you can relate.

I also don't enjoy getting my nails done because I am frugal. That's a nice, politically correct way to say I am hopelessly cheap. Regardless of my life circumstances and financial situation (and I've been on both ends of the spectrum) I have for one reason or another never been able to justify spending very much money on things I don't need. Even when it's fun to spend it. Even when the money isn't mine (like in the case of gifts, etc) - it still just bothers me to no end when I know I've spent more than necessary on something that is... well, not necessary! I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mama of 4 and I know how hard my husband works and how much he sacrifices to provide food in their bellies, quality curriculum for their brains and clothes on their backs. I also know how much I sacrifice by staying home and investing in their lives rather than working out of the home and raking in the extra mullah that could certainly come in handy at times.

For the sake of our family and in the name of good stewardship, we try to keep a tight reign on our budget even at the best of times, and though I do enjoy fashion & beauty products to some degree (even these days, when Snuggli carriers and nursing capes count as wardrobe accessories), shelling out hard earned cash to beautify my nails just has never been a financial priority. Is that because I don't like having pretty nails? Nope. Is it because I'm too practical for girly stuff? Nope. In fact, not very long ago when I worked as an international model, I lived a pretty different life than I do now. I was extremely immersed in the fashion and beauty culture, and although most of that was a time I'd rather block out of my memory completely, part of it was fun. Sitting in the chair for 2 hours while chatting with the makeup artist about life, faith, love, and girly products? LOVED it.... could have sat there all day and completely skipped the photography part... but of course they weren't paying me just to play makeover party with the MU artists(sad!). Although it was my job, I did actually find it fun to play dressup and feel pampered a little before the work began.
Who wouldn't? As much as I maintain that the life of a model is dark, lonely, emotionally taxing and overall fairly ugly, there are definitely some glamorous perks. But none of that was ever worth the time I had to invest in my "career" away from my children - the place I so desperately wanted to be, and the true career I have always felt called to have.

These days, life is busy, my work is completely different, and I love it that way. I am absolutely living my dream - right here with my children where I belong. But I'm sure it goes without saying that the life of a SAHM doesn't always include a lot of glamour, girl time, or pampering. Sometimes, if it doesn't infringe on one's priorities or take away from what's truly important in life, it can be kind of nice to indulge in a LITTLE of that every once in a while! That's where Jamberry comes in.

For those who haven't heard of Jamberry, I encourage you to click on the link to the left of this website entitled "What's Jamberry?" and if you have time, check out the "Meet Alicia" link as well, which explains what I love about the company and how/why I got involved. Basically, Jamberry is great because it provides me with some girly, beautiful indulgent fun for a price that even I can't feel guilty about. (Literally less than $5 per manicure. And way classier looking than "Pretty Nail Salon" ;) Just sayin'.) It also gives me an opportunity to have some girl time - whether it's half an hour by myself, or even in the same room with my family without giving them all headaches from nail fumes (Yep, this stuff is non toxic and stink-free... yay! No stoned babies is always good, right?), having some mama/daughter time with my little girls (who love the nail wraps more than I do) or getting together with my girlfriends for some fun hangout time. If you've been lurking on the website and love what you see (or aren't sure & want to try it out), check out the "book a party" link! As a hostess, you get rewarded big time just for partying with me (even on fb if you're not local, or if you're more of an introverted non-party-having type... but still like free stuff and pretty nails) - there's a "hostess rewards" chart on there for reference if you're interested to know what's in it for you... in my biased opinion it is a very good deal :)

Aside from the product itself, joining Jamberry as a consultant has been a huge answer to prayer for me personally. Not only do I now get PAID to do the above, all while still prioritizing life and work with my children/family at home- I get the chance through networking & throwing parties online and in person to meet and get together with a whole lot of other ladies, which is awesome! So income, social time & (cheap) girly indulgence come together in one fun little package with a Jamberry logo on it. Beautiful! :) It's actually pretty exciting for the ambitious entrepreneurial-minded ladies too... Jamberry is a fairly new but well established business that's growing, gaining popularity and grabbing media/industry attention FAST, and I feel so blessed to be a part of it during this exciting "take off" phase. If you are interested in joining my team, click on the "contact me" link and tell me about it! The beauty of this business is that it's super easy to connect with each other and with others over the net, even with hours and borders between physical locations. Extensive training and support is provided through online courses and for 99 bucks you get everything you need to own and grow your own business wherever you may be at - location wise and circumstantially. :) Questions? I'd be thrilled to answer any you want to throw my way... Just ask :)

For any friends checking this out, thanks so much for stopping by! If you just stumbled upon my website & we haven't met yet, hope you'll introduce yourself and drop me a line!

Blessings,
Alicia
